What can I expect during the Worship Service?
Our desire is for you to experience a Christ-centered worship environment with a live worship band, Biblical preaching, and authentic fellowship that focuses more on your spiritual journey than on what you wear, so dress comfortably. Bring your friends and family!

What time is worship??
Central offers Sunday School classes for all ages at 9:00AM. We meet in the Auditorium at 10:15AM for our Worship Service.

Where do my children go during the Worship Service??
A Nursery is provided for families with children 0-36 months during our Worship service and is staffed with trusted adults and helpers.

Mustard Seeds is our children’s church program that meets during ther sermon. Kids (pre-k through 3rd grade) are dismissed after communion time and meet for an age appropriate lesson.

Do I have to participate in the offering??
The offering is for those who consider Central Church of Christ their church home. We don’t want you to feel obligated to give, but to give from the heart.

Do I have to participate in communion??
Communion is open to anyone who has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. If you are just checking things out, feel free to pass the plate to your neighbor. We do, however, invite you to take this time to reflect on what you’ve heard, and pray that God would reveal Himself to you. If you would like to learn more about beginning a relationship with Jesus, please talk with Tony or contact the office throughout the week.

Values & Vision...

We have:

  • No head but Christ. Jesus Christ is the solitary head of His church. His authority is absolute.
    Matthew 28:18; Acts 2:36; Colossians 1:3-18

  • No book but the Bible. The Bible accurately presented is our only and sufficient rule of faith and practice.

  • No plea but the Gospel. The Gospel of Christ in the hearts of people is the power of God unto salvation. The Good News must be proclaimed without addition or subtraction.
    Romans 1:16; Acts 8:35-39; Galatians 1:6-8

We are:
Simply a congregation of Christians. We are sinners saved by the grace of Jesus Christ, striving to grow in knowledge of Scripture, our relationship with Christ, and our fellowship His church.

Our goals include:

  • Reaching the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ

  • Serving the world in Jesus' name

  • Uniting all Christ followers into one body

  • Having all members feel connected and challenged

  • Encouraging new leaders

What We Believe...
Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God who died for our sins and arose from the dead.
I Corinthians 15:1-8

The Bible is the inspired word of God - a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path.
2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21

Every person has worth as a creation of God, but all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Romans 3:23

Forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life are available to those who trust Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord
John 3:16

Those accepting Christ should repent of their sin, confess their faith in Jesus and be baptized into Him.
Acts 2:38; Mark 16:16

The church is the body of Christ on earth, empowered by the Holy Spirit and exists to share the Good News about Jesus as Savior and to help people grow into Christ-likeness.
Ephesians 4:1-16

Jesus Christ will one day return to earth at the end of all times.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 2 Peter 3:3-15

Our Staff & Leadership...

TONY BRANDT

Tony began ministry with Central Church of Christ for a second time in May of 2012. While a student at Nebraska Christian College in the early Eighties, Tony served as the Intern Youth Minister with the congregation. Following graduation from college, he served as a Youth Minister in Council Bluffs and then he served as the Preaching Minister with the Goldfield, IA and Indianola, IA congregations. Tony and wife, Monica are “empty nesters” and the parents of five sons (two are married; one is serving in the Navy and two are students in college.) AUGGIE MUELLER
Youth Minister
Auggie Mueller began his ministry in a few places it wasn’t until he served at a camp with a mentor that showed him what he was able to be in Christ. And in 2013 attended Nebraska Christian College graduating in 2017 with a youth pastoral major. During that time he was the youth pastor at Northwest Christian Church starting and revitalizing a youth ministry. Auggie Married his wife Caitlin in 2003 on June 20th. Elders...

BRUCE POTTER
Bruce began attending Central Church during high school being very active in the youth group. He was baptized in 1969. He and Nancy have been married for 45 years. Together they continue to actively serve Central. During the years, Bruce has been a Sunday school teacher for various ages from 5 years to adult. He has served on the Church Board for many years, as an elder during the early 1990’s, and as a trustee until the church went to the elder overseer model of leadership. Now semi-retired, he was a carpenter by trade and continues to farm his family farm. Currently, Bruce serves as a leader for our elementary Wednesday evening program, as the Worship pillar leader, and the general repairman for the church.

Bruce felt compelled to return to the eldership in 2016. He deeply cares about others and put their needs above his own. He believes the fellowship of the church is an important way of spreading God’s love.
RICH MORTENSEN
Rich moved to Griswold in 1983 to teach and coach in the Griswold School District. Two years later, he married his wife, Sue; in the years to come, they were blessed with three children. Rich is now semi-retired, but some would say he seems busier now than ever. If he is not working with technical "stuff" at the school or the church, mowing yards, or driving school buses, you may find him working outside or watching a school game.

After serving as a deacon for many years, Rich felt God leading him to broaden his focus and serve others spiritually from an eldership position. Rich is actively involved with ROCK, our Wednesday Night kids program, works a lot with our Audio and Visual team, and co-leads a Life Group.
FRED HILDEBRANDT
Fred and his wife Sandy moved to Griswold in 1965. Fred as a teacher and Sandy as a Stay at Home Mom. They have two grown children plus five grandchildren. They are now both enjoying retirement. Fred and Sandy started attending Central Church of Christ in 1993. Fred served on the board as a deacon and is now serving as an elder. Fred and Sandy are involved with the Hospitality Ministry. Fred served many years as a Bible school teacher and a Life Group leader. Fred and Sandy enjoy spending time with family and friends. Fred believes it is critical to have a relationship and fellowship with our Lord Jesus Christ and to honor and glorify Him.
