 FRIDAY FOOD

Friday Food is child-friendly food sent home from school each Friday to help kids feed themselves over the weekend.

Friday Food started the beginning of March as a joint venture between the Lord’s Cupboard and the Griswold Area Ministerial Association.  Food is gathered at the Lord’s Cupboard site and then is sent home in a non-descript plastic sack with children from both Lewis and Elliot elementary schools.  By the end of the year, 27 children were receiving Friday Food.  Diane Rieken is currently the facilitator of this program.  Friday Food plans to begin again when school starts.

How can you help?  We need funds and child-friendly foods.  If you can buy about 30 items of the same kind, each child will get the same.  We have had people under-write the cost of food for a week, and/or purchase things that everyone can use (single serve mac & cheese, fruit bowls, individual small cereal boxes, pop-top ravioli, non-perishable items, etc).

If you’re not sure what to buy, please give Diane Rieken a call at 605-695-0652.  Diane also has a job with Cass Inc.  If she doesn’t answer, she will return your call.  Thanks so much for your assistance with this important ministry.  Jesus said that whatever we do for the least of these, we do for him.  Let’s bless a child today!
